ACTING POSTMASTER GENERAL'S MESSAGE

Dear customers and the General Public,

The Post Office, commonly known as POSTA in Swahili, is a house-hold name due to its historical role in the provision of communications services from ancient primitive age to the present digital age.

Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) being part of the single global postal territory, is striving for performance excellence characterized, by customer driven services and commercially oriented staff. The philosophy of business diversification, accommodation of business competition as an opportunity rather than a threat, automation of our network and transformation of sales points into a one stop communication solution and logistic support centres are of paramount importance in our survival.

Thus in order to meet the expectations of our customers with their increasingly sophiscated tastes as well as fulfill our mandated role as Public Postal Operator (PPO) with the Universal service Obligation (USO), we have in place a three year Strategic Business Plan (2008-2010) focusing on further commercialization of the Corporation businesses. Our performance will be continuously measure against the stipulated corporate objectives.

We are aware that the path towards a fully commercial Post Office is complicated and involves every aspect of the modern business management. Indeed going by the world trend, the road to successful commercialization of the Post Office is always constrained by among other things inadequate capital, poor infrastructure, and absence of a level playing field in the increasingly competitive communications market.

The management of Tanzania Posts Corporation strongly believes that where there is a will, there must be a way. The aforementioned challenges provide the stimulus for generation of appropriate strategies and actions in a bid to achieve acceptable levels of quality to our service delivery processes with sustained commitment to meet and preferably exceed customers demands and expectations in all segments of the market.

On the part of our Customers and the General Public, we essentially need to get continuous feedback on how we are performing, in which areas we have shortcomings and above all what you want the Post Office to do for you. Your sincere comments and suggestions are of great practical value to us in the improvement of service delivery processes.

Finally I wish once again to sincerely thank all our customers and the general public for their continued support of Tanzania Posts Corporation.
