UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION AWARDS POSTA
The Tanzania Posts Corporation has been awarded the International Security Certificate (S58 & S59) by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), following its successful performance in the assessment of system security, infrastructure, and service-delivery procedures completed on 7 November 2025.
The “A” Class Certificate (gold award) was officially issued on 24 November 2025 by the UPU Director General, Mr. Masahiko Metoki, after a one-week comprehensive audit conducted by UPU experts to verify the Corporation’s security standards in safeguarding parcels, mail, and sensitive information handled throughout the postal service chain.
In this assessment, the Tanzania Posts Corporation scored 598 out of 640 points, successfully meeting all the criteria required to receive this prestigious certificate awarded to postal institutions that achieve the highest level of international security standards.
Receiving the certificate were Ms. Caroline Kanuti, on behalf of the Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology, and the Corporation’s Head of Internal Affairs Unit, S.P. Mathias Kipeta. They expressed gratitude to the UPU for recognizing the significant efforts made by the Corporation to strengthen the security of its services and pledged continued improvements to its systems and infrastructure.
The UPU experts also presented recommendations aimed at further enhancing efficiency in cargo control, monitoring of mail and parcel transportation, and improving mail processing centres (Offices of Exchange) to ensure high-quality, safe, and modern services.
With this achievement, the Tanzania Posts Corporation is now officially listed among global postal operators certified by the UPU for security compliance, positioning the Corporation at an elevated international level and strengthening trust, competitiveness, and service quality for citizens and international customers.
