UPU QSF BOARD HOLDS ITS 95TH MEETING
The 95th Meeting of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Quality of Service Fund (QSF) Board was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from July 14 to 18, 2026, bringing together Board members to discuss various issues aimed at strengthening postal networks and enhancing the quality of postal services worldwide.
Engineer Clarence Ichwekeleza of the Tanzania Posts Corporation participated in the meeting as a member of the QSF Board, representing Tanzania and the African continent on the 11-member Board comprising representatives from different countries around the world.
During the meeting, Board members reviewed the implementation of the Mail and Parcel Transport Vehicle Project, being implemented by the Azerbaijan Postal Service (Azerpost) with funding from the QSF Board. The assessment showed significant improvements in service delivery.
The evaluation revealed that the service performance rate had increased from 59% in 2024 to 75% in 2026, reflecting the positive impact of investments made in improving transportation infrastructure.
In recognition of these achievements and the importance of projects being implemented in member countries, the QSF Board resolved that its 97th Board Meeting will be hosted in Tanzania.
The meeting will provide Board members with an opportunity to assess the implementation of the Intra-town Service Delivery Project, which is being implemented by the Tanzania Posts Corporation as part of ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency, speed, and quality of postal service delivery across the country.
The decision to host the meeting in Tanzania reflects the QSF Board's confidence in the Tanzania Posts Corporation's continued commitment to improving postal services and contributing to the development of the global postal sector.
