TANZANIA LEADS UPU MEETING
TANZANIA LEADS SESSION 2 OF THE UNIVERSAL POSTAL UNION (UPU) POSTAL OPERATIONS COUNCIL MEETING
Tanzania has led the session 2 meeting of the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) during the ongoing sessions of the Council in Berne, the capital city of Switzerland.
The session was chaired by the co-chair of the Postal Operations Council and E-commerce Development Committee, Mr. Constantine Kasese, in collaboration with his counterpart from Swiss Post, Mr. Aime Theubert.
This committee is one of the fourth committees within the UPU Postal Operations Council. The other committees are Committee 1, which deals with Product and Service Chain Matters, Committee 3, focusing on Marketing and Innovation Matters, and Committee 4, responsible for Financial Services in the Postal Network.
The Tanzanian delegation at these sessions was led by Ms. Caroline Kanuti, Assistant Director of Postal Services from the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Information Technology. Others included Mr. Constantine Kasese, Director of E-commerce and Financial Services, Mr. Elia Madulesi, Manager of International Relations and Postal Affairs at the Tanzania Postal Corporation, and Mr. Muhinda Iddy from the Universal Communications Service Access Fund.
The meetings of the Postal Operations Council and the Council of Administration of the UPU, which began on October 30, 2023, will continue their sessions until November 10, 2023, when they will be concluded.
Tanzania is a member of both Councils of the UPU, namely the Postal Operations Council and the Council of Administration.
