TPC ATTENDS DISASTER RECOVERY TRAINING
TANZANIA POSTS CORPORATION (TPC) ATTENDS DISASTER RECOVERY TRAINING CONDUCTED BY THE UPU
On 28th November 2023, Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) attended a Disaster Recovery Training which was conducted by Universal Postal Union (UPU) in the collaboration with Prime Minister's Office.and the .
The four-days training which was attended by representative from Zanzibar, staffs from TPC Internal Affair’s Department, Risk and Quality Management Department, six staffs from different Regions Postal offices were aimed to enhance the Organization's ability to effectively respond to and recover from various types of disasters, including physical and cyber attacks, natural disasters, and other potential threats.
Through UPU Consultant Ms. Vivaoliva Shoo, participants of the training discussed various topics such as dissemination of Disaster Act of 2015 and its regulation of 2017, training on disaster preparedness and response, training on Post Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA), and coordination, evaluation and supervision of Disaster Management.
Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, participants acquired valuable skills and knowledge to ensure a comprehensive and effective approach to disaster recovery. They gained a better understanding of the importance of disaster recovery planning, the identification of critical business functions, and the development of recovery strategies to minimize disruptions in operations.
On the other hand, TPC Head of Internal Affairs, Ms. Zuhura Pinde pleadge the participants to focus on the training so as to gain more valuable skills that will assist TPC day to day Operations and prepare the Organization before or during disasters that will cause losses within the Organization.
The training covered a range of topics, including risk assessment and analysis, business impact analysis, development of disaster recovery strategies within TPC and continuous improvement of recovery capabilities.
Tanzania Posts Corporation recognizes the importance of disaster recovery management in safeguarding its operations, ensuring business continuity, and protecting the interests of its stakeholders. By attending this training, TPC is taking proactive steps to enhance its disaster recovery capabilities and improve its overall resilience in the face of potential threats.
Apart from TPC participants, the Disaster Recovery Training was attended by members of the Prime Minister's Office, representatives of the Ministry of Information, Communications and Information Technology and participants from Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA).
