TPC IN A NATIONAL DISASTER COMMITTEE
TPC OUGHT TO BE IN A NATIONAL DISASTER COMMITTEE.
On the final day of Disaster Recovery Training which was coordinated by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), the Prime Minister's Office, and TPC Internal Affairs Unit, Tanzania Posts Corporation has been obligated to join the National Disaster Committee, which is under the Office of the Prime Minister.
This call was made by the Disaster Coordinator from the Office of the Prime Minister, Ms. Consolatha Mbaga, who, among other things, she described the responsibilities of various disaster committees at the national, regional, district, sub-district, and village levels, where Tanzania Posts Corporation is directly involved in disaster activities nationwide to localwide due to nature of its activities.
Apart from Disaster Committees training, Tanzania Posts Corporation had the opportunity to learn about First Aid and Rescue Services during emergencies. The training was provided by a Disaster Management Consultant from Dar es Salaam Multi-Agency Emergency Response Team (DarMAERT), Mr. Amini Mshana, who demonstrated practically on how to provide first aid and rescue services to victims of various disasters, including floods, fires, building collapses, accidents, and various diseases.
During training sessions , TPC staffs actively practiced on how they will provide first aid and rescue services within the Corporation and their surroundings including their homes.
The three days' Disaster Response and Recovery Training officially began on 28th November 2023 in Dodoma, where by some of Tanzania Posts Corporation staffs from Internal Affairs Unit, Risk and Quality Control Unit, as well as representatives from several Regions including Zanzibar were participated on the training.
Such kind of trainings are provided to build capacity, skills and awareness to the Management and members of TPC staffs to know some of the most important Disasters management strategies such as Disaster Management Act of 2015 and its 2017 Regulations, to be prepared and respond to disasters, conduct Post-Disaster Needs Assessments (PDNA) within the Corporation, coordinate and monitor internal disaster response management30th November, 2023
