CROSS-BORDER FINANCIAL SERVICES
The Tanzania Posts Corporation is fully committed to delivering financial services both domestically and internationally through global services such as MoneyGram, Western Union, and International Financial Services (IFS) with the aim of reaching citizens within and beyond Tanzania's borders.
This was confirmed on March 21, 2024, as the Director of Network Business and Financial Services and Agency, Mr. Constantine Kasese, presented on behalf of the Postmaster General regarding the Organization's Plan, Strategy, and Direction, particularly in financial services, during the Capacity Building Workshop on Cross-Border Remittance Services at the Urban City Blue Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
The three-day workshop from March 20-22, 2024, organized by FINSYS Tanzania Ltd in collaboration with the Tanzania Postal Corporation, aims to explore the role of the Tanzania Postal Corporation in providing cross-border financial services utilizing the extensive network of the Postal Corporation within and beyond Tanzania's borders, comprising more than 251 offices domestically and 670,000 offices worldwide.
The workshop was attended by FINSYS Institute, the Tanzania Posts Corporation, the Ministry of Information, Communications, and Technology, the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), the Central Bank (BOT), the National Identification Authority (NIDA), the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Children (MCDGWC), ZimPost, EuroGiro, and the SendHome Institute from South Africa.
Various topics from financial and communication sector regulators and authorities (BOT and TRCA), the National Identification Authority (NIDA), the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Community Development, Posta Zimbabwe (ZimPost), EuroGiro, and the SendHome Institute were presented to enable the Postal Corporation to provide modern and efficient financial services to citizens within and beyond Tanzania's borders.
These topics were presented in consideration of laws, regulations, and systems of financial sector regulators to ensure the safety and reliability of the services provided.
The resolutions of this workshop are aimed at enhancing the Tanzania Postal Corporation's capacity to provide cross-border financial services using modern government systems and developing an action plan to reach more countries in the EAC, SADC, and COMESA regions by 2025.
