The Tanzania Posts Corporation has launched its new technology for tracking packages along with revenue-tracking technology to monitor payments made by customers or companies. The main goal is to enhance the security of customers' packages and control the corporation's revenue.

This was revealed by the Postmaster General, Mr. Maharage Chande, on June 13, 2024, following the opening of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) Forum at the headquarters of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) in Arusha.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Maharage explained that the technologies will be integrated into package wrappings to ensure the security of the packages until they reach the customer.

Furthermore, Maharage added that the agreement with the Nelson Mandela Institute of Science and Technology in Arusha aims to provide students with opportunities to participate in developing various postal technologies, as well as to educate these students about postal services.

On his part, the Vice Chancellor of the Nelson Mandela Institute of Science and Technology, Professor Maulilio Kipanyula, stated that the concept of technology as an economic opportunity is demonstrated through the agreement with the Postal Corporation, as students will be able to develop these technologies and earn income through Posta.

Professor Maulilio added that they have now joined the technological revolution journey, with the goal of ensuring that the postal technologies being developed are completed.
