TANZANIA SHINES PAPU COUNCIL ELECTION
Through the Tanzania Posts Corporation, Tanzania has been elected to lead the Administrative Council of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) in an election held during the 42nd PAPU Administrative Council meeting, which took place on June 11-12, 2024, in Arusha.
In this election, Mr. Maharage Chande, the Postmaster General of the Tanzania Posts Corporation, was elected to represent Tanzania as the Second Vice Chairman of the PAPU Administrative Council by all council members present.
Tanzania received support from all 23 member countries of the council present during the election. Through this position, Tanzania will have the opportunity to lead these high-level meetings in the PAPU leadership. The elected Chairman is from Algeria, and the First Vice Chairman is from Burkina Faso.
The Tanzania Posts Corporation congratulates Mr. Maharage and wishes him well in his new role.
Tanzania continues to shine internationally by securing various positions in the field of postal services. These include co-chairing Committee number 2 of the Executive Council of the Universal Postal Union, serving as the Vice Chairman of the Southern Africa Postal Operators Association (SAPOA) Board, and now securing a position in the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU).
