The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and Information Technology, Mr. Mohammed Khamis Abdulla, has urged the Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) to adopt interoperable user-friendly digital systems to streamline customer services and make it easier for the Corporation to serve more customers efficiently and promptly.

He made these remarks today, July 12, 2024, while witnessing the handover of approximately 250 Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), which assist in receiving, transporting, and delivering customer product information on time. These devices were provided by the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) to the Tanzania Posts Corporation.

During the handover, Mr. Abdulla emphasized that services must be provided through interoperable systems to eliminate inconvenience for customers and the Corporation, reducing the hassle of using multiple systems to complete a customer’s process.

“A Postal employee with a PDA delivering a product to a customer should send information from their location. The entire process, from purchase to delivery, represents the true meaning of interoperable systems, allowing for an easily traceable single flow of information instead of searching across different systems,” explained Mr. Abdulla.

He also expressed his expectation to see TPC continue to be innovative, providing modern digital services to domestic and international customers.

During the event, Mr. Abdulla expressed his satisfaction with the significant digital transformations undertaken by the Corporation, which are accelerating the country’s economic growth.

Additionally, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Tanzania Posts Corporation, Retired Brigadier General Yohana Ocholla Mabongo, stated that these devices will boost work efficiency and speed up the implementation of digital postal operations, emphasizing that the tools must align with the Corporation’s digital strategy.

On her part, the CEO of the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF), Ms. Justina Mashiba, stated that the Fund has significantly contributed to telecommunications and now sees it as the right time to enhance postal communications and delivery through digital means.

The Postmaster General of the Tanzania Posts Corporation, Mr. Maharage Chande, thanked the Universal Communications Service Access Fund (UCSAF) for providing the 250 devices that will streamline the Corporation’s operations. He mentioned that these devices will help the Corporation increase work efficiency, maintain records, and serve customers at a pace that aligns with the overall concept of "Posta Delivers Better."

He added that the Corporation is on a 24 to 36-month strategic plan involving six key areas: ensuring employees have adequate tools and digital skills, satisfying customers, increasing efficiency and speed in community service, revenue growth strategy, technological innovation, and maintaining a modern corporate image within the community it serves.
