TANZANIA PARTICIPATED IN INTERNATIONAL POSTAL TARIFFS FORUM.

The Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) has participated in the opening of a forum organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in collaboration with the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU). The forum focuses on determining international postal tariffs for the exchange of letters, parcels, and packages among UPU member states.

Speaking on behalf of the Tanzania Posts Corporation Postmaster General, Mr. Elia Madulesi who’s a Head of Communication, and International Postal Affairs, warmly welcomed experts from across Africa attending the forum in Arusha.

Mr. Madulesi highlighted TPC’s commitment to enhancing its operations through digital transformation, expanding mail services, and improving logistical capacity to align with the rapidly growing global e-commerce sector.

He further emphasized that achieving these goals heavily relies on a fair and equitable international remuneration system, which plays a critical role in fostering innovation and growth in postal services worldwide.

Additionally, Mr. Madulesi urged the participants to focus on the discussions, particularly on the proposed tariff models that will be presented at UPU Councils and later at the UPU Congress in Dubai in September 2025, where final decisions will be made by Ministers who are in charge of Postal Operations.

The two-day forum, held from November 28-29, 2024, was facilitated by five experts from the UPU. It covered various aspects slated for reform in the upcoming Global Postal Strategy for 2026–2029.
