SWIFPACK: A CATALYST FOR SUCCESS
The Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Hon. Jerry William Silaa, has instructed the Tanzania Posts Corporation (TPC) to improve monitoring and the quality of its SWIFPACK service to prevent delivery delays and build customer trust.
He made these remarks during the launch of TPC's new service, known as SWIFPACK, today, January 24, 2025, at the Onomo Hotel conference hall in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Silaa urged TPC to establish robust systems to manage drivers ethically, adhering to work regulations and procedures, as well as other service providers, to meet customer demands and ensure service reliability.
Furthermore, Minister Silaa commended TPC for its innovation in introducing the SWIFPACK service, encouraging the Corporation to act as a catalyst for significant success for the organization, citizens, motorcycle (boda boda) riders, tricycle (bajaji) operators, and private vehicle drivers.
On his part, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Mr. Nicholaus Merinyo Mkapa, thanked Minister Silaa for his continued support to the institutions under the ministry, fostering innovation during this era of rapid technological advancements addressing various global citizen needs.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Board of Directors for TPC, Retired Ambassador Major General Gaudence Salim Milanzi, pledged to implement the directives with professionalism to ensure that the SWIFPACK service becomes a reliable solution for citizens.
Postmaster General Mr. Macrice Mbodo stated that the SWIFPACK service will simplify parcel, freight, and passenger transportation for citizens while also creating jobs for motorcycle, tricycle, and private vehicle operators.
SWIFPACK is available through its app, which can be downloaded from PlayStore and AppStore. It provides services for transporting both small and large cargo, including loads of up to 30 tons, as well as passenger transportation in urban and rural areas. The technology-based system allows customers to track their shipments at all times.
